A metal cased subsidiary dial made by Mercer of St Albans. This is an impulse dial: it displays the time in response to signals sent by a controlling clock elsewhere in the electrical installation. The metal casing suggests it was intended for a ship. Already well established as marine chronometer makers, Mercer installed many electrical timekeeping systems throughout the early twentieth century, notably for Cunard.
