Companies Synchronome Electric (trading 1895-c.1980)

Founded in 1895 by Frank Hope-Jones and George Bennett Bowell, the Synchronome Company became a major commercial supplier of electric clock systems thanks to the reliability of its patented 'Synchronome Switch', and the success of the 'Shortt-Synchronome' free pendulum, devised in collaboration with William Hamilton Shortt in 1921.
