On dial: 'Peyer Favarger et Cie. | Neuchâtel Suissse'
Overview
Peyer Favarger was the successor to German clockmaker Matthӓus Hipp, and continued manufacturing clocks incorporating Hipp’s principles into the middle of the twentieth century. This example is typical in including Hipp’s pallet escapement, the ‘Hipp toggle’, which delivers energy to the pendulum whenever its arc decreases. It is a small wall-mounted electric clock in a wooden case with a decorative base and large brass pendulum bob, with ‘Peyer Favarger’ on its silvered Roman dial.
