Overview
A half-sized wall-mounted pendulum clock with a black bob and ornamental hands on a Roman painted white dial, badged Silent Electric Clock Company, and with Arabic numerals for the quarters. The Silent Electric Clock Company was founded c.1908 by George Bennett Bowell, a former collaborator of Frank Hope-Jones and the Synchronome Company. The company’s clocks use the Hipp toggle principle to maintain the amplitude of the pendulum, and many of them were installed in the offices of the British Post Office company.
