Overview
The Favag Company was incorporated in 1927 from the company originally set up by German clockmaker Matthӓus Hipp, its name being a contraction of the name of Hipp’s successor and former senior engineer, Albert Favarger. This is an example of their H12 regulator, No. 432653, from 1943. It incorporates Hipp’s innovation of the ‘Hipp toggle’, a pallet escapement which impulses the pendulum automatically whenever its arc decreases. This example also includes a seconds dial. The clock movement is attached to a limestone slab and is protected by a double curved glass door.
